Problems and Challenges the Mega City of Dhaka Faces
Dhaka city faces many problems in the sides of population to pollution to diseases and transport. There is a great list of problems that Dhaka needs to have a solution to quickly, some of the most important problems in Dhaka are bad management of the environment not many green spaces. Disease spreading through slums, transport as well as bad traffic and low amount of liveable space. It is believed that there is an overpopulation in Dhaka which makes it difficult to house all the families. In result of this there have been slums made by many people to have a place they could call home.
Economic Consideration
There are many economy problems in Dhaka from employment to planning for the future.
It is stated that employment in Dhaka is very low and it is lucky for the people to find the opportunity to be employed. it is said that nearly half of the Dhaka' low class employers are employed in house hold work and unorganised labour. Additionally Dhaka had provided jobs for approximately 800,000 of the 15,000,000 citizens.
41.22% of Dhaka is run mostly by generated electricity but there are still people asking for power all over Dhaka and over time more people were dispirit for electricity and the erg to gain it has increased by 10%.
The traffic in the streets of Dhaka a horrendous and are full of traffic jams because of this it makes it hard for people to get around quickly. As Dhaka has a huge population of 15 million the demand of public transport is high. the buses have to complete at least 25 million daily trips. If Dhaka was to grow bigger they would have to build express ways for buses to enable quicker transporting.

Social Consideration
A lack of resources and skill sets available to the general public in Dhaka proves itself to be a detrimentally growing problem, especially more so with the cities explosive population growth . Citizens are faced with many social problems such as little or no access to doctors, poor sanitation, infant mortality and increasingly less access to drinking water.
1. Clean and Accessible Water
Accessible clean drinking water sources is becoming a drastic challenge for Dhaka where every year thousands die due to waterborne diseases. According to the Joint Monitoring Programme of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and UNICEF, access to improved drinking water sources in urban areas of Bangladesh has declined from 88% in 1990 to 85% in 2008. The situation though is much worse for slums in urban metropolis's such as Dhaka.

2.Population
Dhaka's massive population growth is another huge problem that they need to tackle. With already limited resources available to the general public Dhaka needs to prepare and develop for a sustainable future.
With around 12 million residents Dhaka is he 11th largest city in the world and the fastest growing mega city of them all.
3.Poor Sanitation
Problems with waste in Dhaka are daunting where almost two thirds of the cities sewerage is untreated and left there to seep into waterways and the ground. The result is the death of thousands upon thousands in all of Bangladesh including
50 000 children dying because of poor sanitation and catching waterborne diseases such as cholera, diarrhea, dysentery, typhoid.

4.Healthcare
The majority of Dhaka's residents have little or no access to doctors. And if they do they are unsatisfied with their competency. Results have shown the infant mortality rate in Dhaka to be overwhelming. With a study in 1960 showing the rate of death for infants to be 149, 46 in 2003 and 51 in 2009. This is due both the poor sanitation in Dhaka and the competency of healthcare.

Environmental Consideration
Dhaka has way too many problems environmentally these problems ranging from the amount of clean water available to the society to the amount of pollution that is given off.
Thousands of people in Bangladesh’s capital, Dhaka, are dying because of air pollution. An estimated 15,000 premature deaths, as well as several million cases of respiratory illness are caused because of the poor air quality in Dhaka.

Green Spaces
The cars, trains, motor bikes and other mortised vehicles are not the only problem the lack of green spaces has also contributed to this problem because they haven't balanced out the amount of space they use with buildings trains tracks and roads with green spaces despite this they are now starting to use those very last green spaces that are left to build buildings so the amount of green spaces left is getting smaller every day and the amount of pollution is constantly rising.
